The much acclaimed and accomplished pop/r&b/jazz fusion band, Earth. Wind and Fire was formed on January 1, 1969 according to several online biographies and this auspicious "birth date" explains much of the band's success. The band was very astrological in the mental conception of leader Maurice White who named the band after the elements of earth, air and fire in his own astrological chart.
